Biological Information: The Dorschtulmn has the attributes of a lion, dragon, and snake all combined in one. Its strong jaw and lush mane make it a fearsome and easily identifiable creature. Its large and nasty teeth are able to penetrate even the strongest of rocks. Furthermore, with the body of a dragon, it is able to fly, breath both fire and ice, and shoot a gust of wind. Finally, its snake-like tail makes it extremely agile and almost impossible to catch. It is also about the size of a village house.
Fantastical Information: The Dorschtulmn is the king’s pet in the world of Kinslic. Although it is regarded as the King’s pet, the King has no real control over it. Nonetheless, it seems to never wreak havoc on the King’s city, nor the city of Aiteall, both of which are peak cities. On the other hand, the Dorschtulmn strikes quivering fear into the hearts of the individuals that live in the valley cities. Whenever these individuals hear the devastating screech of this creature they know that horrors are incoming. Every time the Dorschtulmn appears, it destroys the infrastructure of the valley cities and almost always kills someone. When the screech is heard, the residents of the valley city can do nothing but pray to their church in hopes that they will not be affected this time.
Biological Information: Tocagons can be found in the woods that the Witches that cursed Kinslic live in. They are hybrid creatures with features of a Toad, Black Cat, and Dragon created by the witches to survey the area and attack any intruders. They are characterized by their sharp teeth and black scale-like skin with green spots. Tocagons tend to stay high up in trees to survey the areas they live in. They usually travel in packs of 3 or more to protect each other from larger threats.
Fantastical Information: Tocagons were created by the witches in order to be their eyes and ears everywhere around Kinslic and its outskirts. They have the ability to travel through shadows to other places they have been before, making it easy to report information back to the witches immediately.
Biological Information: Its name means ‘reaching the Sun’ and is derived from the words ‘Ruigidh’ and ‘Ghrian’ which translates to ‘reach’ and ‘Sun’ respectively. It earns its name from the fact that it is said to soar above the clouds and touch the Sun. Due to its flying habits, there have been very few unverified sightings of the Ruigghriann although it has been described as a four-legged bird with wings spanning up to seven and a half feet. The majestic crown above its head and golden-coloured wings, head and tail make it one of the most regal creatures in the world of Kinslic. Its tail is featherless and bony with a sharp tip that is used to hunt rodents and lesser birds.
Fantastical Information: It is said that a sighting of the bird is a sign of fortune and prosperity. Rumours around the bird is that only two of them, one of each sex, are alive at any given time. Every seven years, the two Ruigghriann will produce offspring high in some mountain above the clouds. Although many have claimed that said mountain is the mountain upon which Aldis is built, the truth is that no one can say for sure. The Ruigghriann can produce up to five offspring at a time, but the parents will choose two, one of each sex, to raise – abandoning the other chicks to perish. Two weeks after they learn to fly, the chicks leave the nest and the parents embark on their final journey, towards the Sun, thus completing the cycle.
Biological Information: The name of this creature is derived from the Gaelic words meaning “dark night”. Oíchedorcha’s are nocturnal and feed on human flesh. They were created by the witches and reside in the Cuimhni Forest and cannot reproduce on their own. The witches do have the ability to create one each full moon, but otherwise the population of the Oíchedorcha is stagnant. There are no genders of Oíchedorcha. They sleep during the day outside the witches’ huts and keep guard or attack citizens at night.
Fantastical Information: These beasts belong to the witches and follow every command given to them by the witches without fail. If someone were to defy the power of the witches or speak out against them, the Oíchedorcha’s will come in the night to consume that person, leaving behind nothing but bones. It is believed that there is only one way to defeat an Oíchedorcha, and that requires the help of both a Ruigghriann and a Dorschtulmn.
Tearcabhainn
Biological Information: The Tearcabhainn is a small and nimble aquatic creature. It has the speed and agility of a fish, and also has rigid and sturdy skin that is impenetrable. It is about the size of a human hand and has a tongue that is the length of its body and has enough power to go against the raging river current to catch its prey. Its reproduction cycles happen every 5 years and only produce 1 to 2 offspring per cycle.
Fantastical Information: The Tearcabhainn is one of the rarest creatures of Kinslic. It roams the waters of the Sileadh River. Due to its infrequent reproduction cycles, it is extremely rare and is a sign of good luck when it is seen. Unfortunately, it is going extinct as the royal family of Kinslic love to eat this creature. It is one of the most exquisite things that is found on the plates of the wealthy, and a resident of Stoneryn can never eat one.
