Ultrasound to probe and activate biological cells
My research aims at probing complex soft biological tissues to estimate cellular structures (blood and tumors), and at activating cellular processes by ultrasound.

We propose a PhD position in the framework of the CENTURI PhD program to work on focused ultrasound neurostimulation for chronic pain treatment. Applications are open from January 15 to February 15, 2024. Consider applying to or sharing this PhD position!
The ANR HEMO project, involving the laboratories LMA, INPHYNI, IMAG and LIBM, has started in October 2022.
The ITMO Cancer NIFUS (Non‐invasive focused ultrasound surgery of breast adenocarcinomas), led by David Melodelima (LabTAU-Lyon) and involving the laboratories LabTAU and LMA, has just started.
Influence of storage and buffer composition on the mechanical behavior of flowing red blood cells
January 2023
Blood is the subject of many in-vitro studies for research and medical purposes. Sample preparation or storage conditions may affect its mechanical behavior. In this collaborative study, we provide new guidelines to minimize the impact of specific experimental requirements (e.g., density matching, blood freshness) by focusing on the single or collective motion of red blood cells in a large range of flow conditions [Merlo et al. Biophysical Journal 2023].
