After applying through your county’s N.C. Cooperative Extension center, complete a 40-hour training program on sustainable horticulture, followed by a 40-hour internship to gain hands-on experience. Certified volunteers contribute service hours yearly. Under Extension professionals' guidance, volunteers engage in educational outreach to promote research-based gardening practices that benefit communities across North Carolina.
