Wait. You Said Faith is Currency?

The Bible has so much to say about faith. Probably because it is one of the most important principles taught in the Bible. Without faith, literally nothing can be done. Okay, hear me out. The Bible says without faith it is impossible to please God (Heb 11:16). Let's look at this. Why is Faith so important? Well, faith is the currency for Kingdom transactions. When you pray for something, you have to believe that it is done without doubting, in order for it to happen (Mark 11:24). So you pray for something, and your faith, that is what finalizes the transaction. You believe that it's done and, if it's in the will of God, it will be done. Your request plus your faith equals it is done! 

Everything that you see on earth is a result of faith. Let me break it down for you from the beginning. God, our father, the creator of all things, spoke this world into existence. He utilized his words and he believed that what he spoke would come to pass. Of course he's God, and everything he says comes to pass, but think about that for a second. God knows that what He speaks will occur, and it does, everytime. He gave us the blueprint for that - and it is faith. He never doubted, nor does He ever second guess himself. He said “let there be light” (Gen 1:3) and he knew that light would appear when he finished speaking. Therefore, when he spoke it, the light appeared. That's trippy isn't it? Just a little bit. He spoke the earth into existence. He separated the land from the sea and from the air. He spoke the fish into the ocean. He spoke and the trees emerged from the soil of the land (read Gen 1 for the tea). Everything that we see is a result of God illustrating Faith in action.

When Jesus came to the earth and paid the ultimate price for our sins, one of the benefits we got from that was the Holy Spirit being invited to dwell among us and within us, and to transform us in the process. Now the Holy Spirit which was in God, which WAS God, when he spoke the world into existence, is the same Holy Spirit that dwells within and among us today. So what does that mean for us? Simply put, it means we have the power to speak in faith according to God's will and see things happen. This is the Kingdom way. The Holy Spirit empowers us to be able to do miraculous works like Jesus did when he was on earth, and like God did, when he created the earth. Imagine that. Imagine THAT Holy Spirit dwelling inside of you. At least, he's available and willing to live inside of you. Whether you accept him or not, that's up to you. He's never going to force himself on you, nor will He force you to do anything you don’t want to do. Revelation 3:20 tells us that the Spirit of God waits to be invited in. (I’m paraphrasing, but please feel free to read it for yourself!) He is standing at the door of our hearts, calling to us. And, should we hear Him and open the door, He’ll enter, ready to commune with us; to spend time with us. Comforting, isn’t it? That same Holy Spirit wants to help us and heal us.

Now, getting back to our main topic, hopefully you have a clearer understanding of how monumentally important Faith is in God’s Kingdom. It is the very thing God used to establish life as we know it. You know, the Bible says that with the faith you have, even if the amount you have only resembles the size of a mustard seed (see the image on the cover), it is capable of moving mountains. Meaning, even if you only have a tiny amount of Faith, it is still enough, and it is capable of growing into something magnanimously larger than what it started as! You might argue that mountains are impossible to move, but I’d challenge you to think figuratively. A mountain in nature is a massive structure, that when faced, may prove arduous to overcome. I know I have definitely faced some challenges in my life that mirrored mountains.The great news is that between our faith and the Holy Spirit living inside of us, we have everything we need to overcome any obstacle and for survival in the Kingdom! 

If you operate in the kingdom, you have to use kingdom currency. Nothing can be accomplished in the Kingdom of God without faith. Just like here, in our society, there aren’t many things that you can accomplish without money. You can think about it like this: imagine that you live in the US and you are taking a trip to Paris, France. If you are trying to use US dollars… You’re in the wrong kingdom. The wrong country. Your US money doesn't work in Paris, right? It's the same principle. So what am I saying? If you’re a believer, you have been extended an offer of citizenship into the Kingdom of God. And if you accept your offer, because the choice really is yours, you have to know the ins and outs of how it works! We are empowered through the Holy Spirit to claim our inheritance as King’s kids.
