Advice to Presenters

Checklists for Your Proposal

1) Research Colloquium Track

  1. Do you engage the readers by telling them what the presentation is about and why they should be interested?
  2. Does the title of your proposal provide a good description of your proposed presentation?
  3. Is the proposal well written in terms of language, grammar, etc.?
  4. Do you provide a brief summary in one or two sentences on each of the following elements:
  • Objectives or purposes of the presentation?
  • Perspective or theoretical/conceptual framework?
  • Methods, techniques, or modes of inquiry?
  • Data sources, evidence, objects, or materials?
  • Results and/or substantiated conclusions or warrants for arguments/point of view?
  • Scientific or scholarly significance of the study or work?
  • Relevance of the study to the theme (or sub themes of the conference)?

2) Innovative Practice Track

  1. Do you engage the readers by telling them what the presentation is about and why they should be interested?
  2. Does the title of your proposal provide a good description of your proposed presentation?
  3. Is the proposal well written in terms of language, grammar, etc.?
  4. Do you provide a brief summary in one or two sentences on each of the following elements:
    1. Objectives or purposes of the presentation?
    2. Perspective or theoretical/conceptual framework?
    3. Challenge/s which required innovative response?
    4. Design and implementation of the response?
    5. Results and/or substantiated conclusions or warrants for arguments/point of view?
    6. Significance and reusability of the innovation?
    7. Relevance of the study to the theme (or sub themes of the conference)?

3) Workshop Track

  1. Do you engage the readers by telling them what the workshop is about and why they should be interested?
  2. Does the title of your proposal provide a good description of your proposed workshop?
  3. Is the proposal well written in terms of language, grammar, etc.?
  4. Do you provide a brief summary in one or two sentences on each of the following elements:
    1. Objectives or purposes of the workshop?
    2. Perspective or theoretical/conceptual framework?
    3. Target group/s of participants for the workshop?
    4. Likely benefits of participation?
    5. Strategies and activities to be used?
    6. Time which participants will need to commit to achieve the planned benefits?
