This project I had to gather information from Creative Commons and credit for each example.
For my images I have decided to use works from French painter, Claude Monet.
I have downloaded both images from Flickr and uploaded the images onto my website.
The both image uses the CC BY-NC 2.0 license. This allows for:
Share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format
Adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material
The licensor cannot revoke these freedoms as long as you follow the license terms.
With the following terms:
Attribution — You must give appropriate credit , provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made . You may do so in any reasonable manner, but not in any way that suggests the licensor endorses you or your use.
NonCommercial — You may not use the material for commercial purposes .
ShareAlike — If you remix, transform, or build upon the material, you must distribute your contributions under the same license as the original.
No additional restrictions — You may not apply legal terms or technological measures that legally restrict others from doing anything the license permits.
The audio I have chosen is a classical piece called Clair De Lune by AurbanniAudio.
I downloaded the MP3 file from Jamendo Music and uploaded it to my Google Drive then embeded it onto my website.
Jamendo Music License: NonCommercial License (CC NC, CC BY-NC or NC)
This license allows for:
A copyright holder can apply to their media to give public permission for anyone to reuse that media only for noncommercial activities.
The animated gif I have chosen is a scene from Padmaavat a 2018 Indian Hindi-language historical drama film.
Animated GIFs are short, looping animations made from a series of images. They're often used online to express reactions or show short clips because they're small and easy to share.
I got the gif off of google, downloaded it, and put it in my website through images.
The GIF was originally posted on Tumblr and then shared on dnaindia.com without a proper license, this means that the copyright status of the GIF is unclear.
The license for the movie Padmaavat is called a copyright license. This type of license grants the copyright holders, Bhansali Productions and Viacom18 Motion Pictures, exclusive rights to distribute, reproduce, and use the film and its content.
The YouTube video "Creativity, Copyright, and Fair Use" talks about how important it is for creators to comprehend copyright laws and fair use. It highlights the need of giving due credit, using original work responsibly, and knowing how to utilize copyrighted content legally. The purpose of the video is to teach producers how to handle copyright concerns while upholding others' rights.
This YouTube video is likely covered by YouTube's standard licensing terms.
This means that the creator retains copyright of the content, but YouTube has the right to distribute it under their terms of service. Users are allowed to watch, share, and interact with the video, but they must comply with YouTube's copyright policies and guidelines.
Exploring and ethically sharing different types of digital media has taught me several important lessons. First, respecting copyright is crucial—always verify the licensing and copyright information before using any media. Proper attribution matters: giving credit to creators not only complies with legal requirements but also honors their work. Using reputable sources like Creative Commons ensures clear licensing. Creating original content, when possible, makes projects more authentic. Understanding fair use is essential, though complex. Checking licensing terms carefully is important, as different licenses have various conditions. Ethical sharing means following legal guidelines and being mindful of the impact on creators. These lessons help navigate the digital media landscape responsibly and respectfully.
