Biography

Dr. Kyung-Hun Shin received his B.S., M.S. and Ph.D degrees from Chungnam National University, South Korea, in 2014, 2016, and 2019, respectively. He joined the faculty of Changwon National University (CWNU, 창원대학교), Changwon, Korea in March 2024 and is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering. 

From September 2020 to February 2024, he was an assistant professor at Chonnam National University, Yeosu, South Korea. From October 2019 to July 2020, he was with the Power group of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at  University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), Urbana, IL, USA as a Post-doctoral Researcher. From February 2019 to August 2019, he worked as an Intern researcher at Mitsubishi Electric Research Laboratories (MERL), Cambridge, MA, USA. 

Dr. Shin's current research focuses on the analysis, design, modeling, and optimization of electric machines, the development of automatic design programs for electric machines,  fault detection of electric machines with AI, and prototype developments for experimental study. He has published more than 78 peer-reviewed technical publications (48 papers as a main author) and holds 4 patents in electric machine areas. Dr. Shin received the Global Ph.D. Fellowship from NRF (National Research Foundation of Korea) in 2017.
