ELWOOD SEPTA SCHOLARSHIP - 2 awards at $500 each.
FOR JGHS SENIORS WHO HAVE RECEIVED SPECIAL EDUCATION SERVICES AT ANY POINT IN THEIR EDUCATION.

INSTRUCTIONS: Please submit a personal essay on one of the following topics, either Topic #1 OR Topic #2 (no minimum pages required):
INSTRUCTIONS: Please submit a personal essay on one of the following topics, either Topic #1 OR Topic #2 (no minimum pages required):
Essay Topic Option 1: Please describe an important experience or challenge you have had related to your disability. This could include academic or physical challenges, or any other challenge which created an obstacle that needed to be overcome.
Suggestions to include in your essay:
Ø What was the challenge you faced?
Ø What was hard about the challenge?
Ø Give an example on how you worked through or managed your challenge.
Ø How did this experience make you stronger?
Ø How did you feel once you accomplished your goal?
Essay Topic Option 2: Describe a talent or accomplishment in any field that you have achieved despite learning challenges. The accomplishment could be in any area. Some examples are any academic area, athletics, music or art.
Suggestions to include in your essay:
Ø What was the talent or accomplishment you achieved?
Ø Why was it hard to learn the talent or accomplishment?
Ø Give an example on how you worked through or managed the challenge.
Ø How did this experience make you stronger?
Ø How did you feel once you accomplished your goal?
Each applicant must also submit a verifiable form of acceptance in a higher level of education (College, Technical School, or some sort of a continuing education program), include a reference contact email or phone number.

FOR JGHS SENIORS WHO HAVE VOLUNTEERED FOR ANY ELWOOD SCHOOL DISTRICT EVENT, OR VOLUNTEERED OR WORKED WITH CHILDREN OR ADULTS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS.
FOR JGHS SENIORS WHO HAVE VOLUNTEERED FOR ANY ELWOOD SCHOOL DISTRICT EVENT, OR VOLUNTEERED OR WORKED WITH CHILDREN OR ADULTS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS.

Topic: Describe your volunteer/work experience in the district or with a child or adult with special needs.
Suggestions to include in your essay:
Ø What type of volunteer work or work experience was it? Give details.
Ø What was your role in the work or experience?
Ø Give at least one example of how the work impacted you and why.
Ø Give at least one example of what you learned from this experience.
Ø For your volunteer or work experience include a reference name with a contact email or phone number.
