El Paso Giving

The Downtown Church Connection is a group of churches and organizations working together to fulfills needs in the community. Currently, it is in need of shelters, volunteers and donations for refugees coming through El Paso from Central America. Review the information below to see how you can help.

Urgent:

“There has been a steady increase (up to 100 per day) in the amount of refugees (primarily from Central America) coming through Annunciation House. They are in need of space/facilities (preferably with showers) from churches and organizations willing and able to help with refugees arriving (even a small amount for a short period of time or specific days or times), needing a shower, clothing, a cot to sleep on, meals, volunteers (Spanish-speaking preferably), and helping sending refugees to their families elsewhere in the U.S.

Monetary or in-kind donations can be made to the Annunciation House at 1003 E San Antonio Ave, El Paso, TX 79901.

socks for women and children

child seats, toys
coloring books

extend hours travel snacks
toiletries
towels and washcloths
twin bed sheets

Refugee Sheltering is being hosted by these churches. Contact them individually to find out more about volunteering or their needs:

The Church of St. Clement:

“We have an update on our end here at St. Clements. The leadership unanimously approved our opening as a temporary transition facility. Because December is so hectic with ministry and taxing to get volunteers, we are aiming at opening the weekend of Jan. 6-8. We will begin asking for donations of toiletries, underwear, diapers, care package bags etc… If any of the other Downtown Connection organizations would be willing to help I know we could use it … whether it be donation items or willingness of more volunteers. My hope is that as awareness increases, so will the desire to make a difference. Then hopefully we can increase the number of weekends per month we can host.

St. Mark Catholic Church:

“I would like to inform you that during Mass our Pastor Arturo Bañuelas from Saint Mark gave us the good news that we will be hosting refugees for a period of almost two months end of November to the middle of January at ourParish Hall. If you know of any relatives or friends that live in the East side and would like to help please contact the parish office at 300-2800. All volunteers need to have background checks. If you have one on file with your local congregation, please have your pastor send me an email confirming that. There is a small fee for running background checks at FCC and would be happy to assist if you need us to.
