El Paso, How can you help?
“The Opportunity Center exists for all homeless without distinction of race, ethnic origin, language spoken, or, religious beliefs, and regardless of mental, drug and alcohol problems. Through direct contact with the homeless, the Center supports them to move beyond their condition if they are capable; or protects them if they cannot improve their condition in society because of emotional or psychological disorders.
To this end, the Opportunity Center operates a day resource center/emergency overflow night shelter where homeless people can gather and where some members of the El Paso Coalition for the Homeless provide on-site services. The Center also strives to create a system of care for the most needy among this population through the development of transitional and long-term supportive housing.”
“Share the love this holiday season, and donate essential items to La Posada Home. La Posada Home was established in 1986 in order to assist women and their children who are experiencing homelessness, domestic violence, abandonment, or lack of opportunities. Through accessing community resources we are able to provide the families with free-of-charge training opportunities, recreation, advocacy, transportation, medical and psychological services, day care, education, and assistance in the search for more permanent housing. Families are able to stay up to a year while they become self-sufficient.”
"Mustard Seed Cafe is a nonprofit, donation-based cafe and garden that relies heavily on the community’s support and involvement. With your help, the Mustard Seed can meet dietary, emotional and spiritual needs of hundreds of vulnerable adults and children in El Paso. Your contribution enables us to provide nutritious meals and personal help to all people regardless of their ability to pay. All are equal and are treated with dignity and respect when they walk through our doors."
The Kelly Center for Hunger Relief is largely stocked by the El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank. You can Host a Food Drive for the Kelly Center or bring donations during the Kelly Center's open hours.
