The Environmental Leadership Program at East Elgin has decided to take on the challenge of the Clean Water Healthy Future project. The Clean Water Healthy Future project is designed to help educate students on why water is so important and how our actions can impact our lives and the places around us. Did you know that there is only 2% of freshwater on earth and of that 2% we only have access to a fraction of if. If we did not have water, life on land would not exist. Plants and animals need water to survive, that includes us as humans. Water transports nutrients, shapes the land, fertilizes crops, is home to many species and allows wildlife to travel. If we lost our water flow then rivers would dry up, fish stock would plummet, and drinking water could disappear. We need to be proactive and change out ways now, instead of reactive when it is too late and we are faced with those consequences.
