Sean and I had an early start and headed to Tarkastad. Soon we were back on our preferred gravel roads to Kirkwood while my sister had taken the safer tar road.
We traveled through De Beer's Pass on the D645 and along Baviaans river before crossing the N10 and the Great Fish river to Somerset East. We stopped at the Garden Cafe for a meal.
Sean & I had previously ridden this route in 2012 where Sean's bike picked up a puncture that needed repair using our emergency puncture repair kit.
We continued along gravel roads through the Addo Elephant National Park, past Mentz Dam before joining the R75 at Glenconnor.
We arrived as Broadlands B&B where we had booked out the whole venue where our families gathered to enjoy a fantastic Christmas. It was a full house with my wife, parents, brother & sister and most of our children.
Tarryn, my daughter, and fiancé had driven down from Ramsgate, Lynne from Pretoria, Sarah from Hilton and Stephen & children from Cape Town.
While at Broadlands, some of the family members went to the Addo National elephant park for a picnic.
Broadlands is a great family venue as the kids are kept busy swimming and fishing while the older folks could catch up and share news.
