I joined Mike Ilsley, his Brother Brian , Jakob and Jan Paul on a 2,261km Land Rover trip from Pretoria to Kgalagadi through Botswana and back to Pretoria in June 2007.
I do not think there is a better bunch of guys to do a 4x4 trip with. They are experienced 4x4 travelers, well kitted out and know how to prepare for such a trip and most importantly, they know how to cook in the bush. As my wife says, "Philip cannot cook. He burns water in the kettle".
Next time, I would like to spend 3 nights on the South African side of the Kgalagadi park. One night at each of the main camps, Twee Revieren, Mata Mata and Nossob before heading into Botswana.
Further I would like to have spent an extra two nights on the Botswana side of the Kgalagadi park.
