Creality Sonic Pad on my Ender 5 Pro
Creality Sonic Pad Installation Notes on my Ender 5 Pro w/ 4.2.7 +BLT + Filament Runout Sensor
Below are the notes on this frustrating implementation since it is not a preset configuration from Creality.
The key steps I have used are below for anybody else who runs the same configuration.
Ensure to have a Backup of the Marline Firmware to re-install if needed to get the system to it's original functionality.
Write down all the configuration presets used to calibrate the stepper motors, Z-Offset and PID values.
Create a printer.cfg file or start with mine and store in root directory of the USB drive that will plug into USB2 of the Sonic Pad to load. (Note: My Ender 5 has the old leadscrew so [stepper_z] --> rotation distance: 4)
Generate and Flash MCD Firmware for Creality 4.2.7 silent driver board. (2 Options)
Generate and try to use the preset Ender 3 V2 (4.2.7) MCU firmware to flash the board and store the file on the microSD card root directory.
Select Other Machine and select the following settings for the Creality 4.2.7 board (Mine)
STM32F103
28KiB bootloader
Serial (on USART1 PA10/PA9) communication
Baud = 115200
Power off the printer and unplug anything from the micro-usb port.
Power ON to flash and the LCD screen will be blank
Plug the Sonic Pad into USB1 (Top Left port) and the micro-usb end into the printer
Select Pick Other Printer screen hit Next and Load (the LCD screen should update like below)
Note:
There a no controls from the OEM dial/display anymore. All must be done via the Sonic Pad or Remote Web UI
Known Bugs:
After adjusting the Z-Offset and it saves but comments out the [bltouch] z_offset which causes an error on restart.
Resonance sensor harnes is flakey. It may detect the sensor but may error out after selecting "Start Test"
Reseat the harness connector on the accelerometer end.
