Smartstrip Feature Using the #RLV Folder
Since version 4.6.8, the Stepford Implant supports RLV smartstrip, triggered by the local chat commands "get naked" or "strip for me", as well as through the Stepford Implant Radar.
The RLV-based smartstrip feature has been around for a long time. It has become less popular, but still works great. Since head, body and most clothes are attachments, a function that can distinguish between outfit and essential body parts is a good thing.
This page describes how you can use smartstrip with the Stepford Implant.
To use smartstrip, you have to copy items into the #RLV folder in your inventory. A basic way to do that is to create a sub-folder called Outfits, a sub-folder per outfit, and sub-folder for each semantic item. For example: You have an outfit that consists of a tank top, jeans and sneakers. You would create these folders:
#RLV/Outfits/Casual/Tank Top
#RLV/Outfits/Casual/Jeans
#RLV/Outfits/Casual/Sneakers
Now you'd copy the respective items into these folders. If your clothes need and have alpha layers, also copy them into these folders.
Important: You now copy dummy system layers into these folders too. A dummy system layer is a not an attachment but an SL-specific clothes layers made with transparent/invisible textures. The layers supported by the Stepford Implant are gloves, jacket, shirt, undershirt, pants, skirt, underpants, socks and shoes. A package with prepared system layers is part of your Stepford Implant shipment (since version 4.6.8).
The system layers are used by the RLV API to find the clothes you are wearing. When undressing them, the entire folder goes with them. Hence, undressing the system layer for "pants" will also undress anything that's in the same folder (in our example: Jeans).
That's it! Using smartstrip requires some preparation, but will allow the Stepford Implant (and your Open Collar too, by the way) to detect outfits and their parts.
I've made a screenshot of one of my outfits. Note the high-lighted items: These are the dummy system layers.
This is what your #RLV folder structure should look like:
The structure by the way is an example. You can have more folder levels. The only important aspects are that your structure has to be in the #RLV folder and that it contains the appropriate dummy system layers.
Well, the commands "get naked", "strip for me" and "get dressed" now also work with outfits that have been prepared for smartstrip as described above. Note that this is all on a best effort basis. Esp. "get dressed" depends upon the fact that the implant also did the undressing (to memorise what you have worn).
In your Open Collar menu, you usually find a menu path RLV -> # Folders -> Browse to find your smartstrip items.
