Elkinton Library "Staff" Picks - Recommended Reading From Our Volunteers
In our continuing interest to share what our volunteers are enjoying reading from our library, Lyn Montgomery recommends these books, all historical fiction:
Lessons in Chemistry, by Bonnie Garmus (New books);
The Last Green Valley, by thriller writer Mark Sullivan who wrote Beneath the Scarlet Sky (New books), WW2 beginning in Ukraine;
The Island of the Missing Trees, by Elif Shaka (New books); and
The Only Woman in the Room, by Marie Benedict ("Old" book shelves).
Happy Reading!
Early July 2022:
Library "Staff"-Volunteer Favorites - We asked our volunteers to share titles of their favorite PLP Library books. Our first installment of "Staff-Volunteer Favorites" comes from M.C.Savage. In the History section, anything by Lynne Olson, a Washington Post reporter who writes about World War ll and the people who played an important part. Titles include Citizens of London, perhaps her best, and Those Angry Days and Madame Fourcade’s Secret War. All are well researched showing that truth can be more exciting and inspiring than fiction. In the Fiction section, anything by Louise Erdrich, a Native American who writes contemporary stories that reveal much about lesser known Native American culture; titles include Roundhouse, The Night Watchman, and Beet Queen. Too many books, too little time.
