What to write about today, I haven’t the slightest clue. Yet here I am, typing, not really stopping. Just saying whatever comes to my mind. I guess I can tell you about my weekend. Why not, right? Well, originally I wanted to go to a Twins game but they weren’t selling solo tickets online and it was a little chilly out. So I decided to check to see if any entry times were available for the Minneapolis Institute of Art (which there hardly ever are) and BOOM, there were some available for 1:30. It was probably already 1:00 when I went to go look at tickets, so I hopped in my car and cruised down the highway listening to some great jams on my way to the art museum.
Then the coolest thing ever happened…..I parallel parked in one beautiful swift motion. I gave myself a gold star for that. I wish you all could have been there to see it because it was amazing and I am still very proud.
With my gold star from parking, I walked into the museum right on time. I grabbed a map (because I get very lost in museums) and started my Sunday me time. I do like to hear others opinions about art and other things but I was ready to be in my own little world. So, I grabbed my AirPods and started blasting amazing movie scores as I made my way through the maze of art. I was in my happy place.
I’m not going to lie, there was a part of me that was hoping to see some gorgeous man in a sweater wearing glasses. Despite the fact that the love of my life wasn’t there, I had an amazing time. I was there for two hours walking around with my jaw dropped in awe of the works around me. I could easily have stayed even longer. I probably missed a whole section because I definitely got lost a time or two.
For two whole hours, I was in my own movie. Walking down the halls of beautiful architecture as the strings of a violin sang with the blow of the trumpets.
For two whole hours, I was the mysterious girl, all alone, standing in front of a single painting for much longer than would have been expected.
For two whole hours, I created my own reality, living inside a story as if others were watching. When in reality no one was actually watching me, no one except me.
Oh to live in a dream. It’s as if the world actually revolves around you. It does in a way, you know? I mean think about it, you only know what YOU know. YOUR world revolves around you.
Okay, I’ll break free of my dreamy trance now.
It may seem lonely out there and it often can be, but you can have a great time with yourself. Think of something that you have always wanted to do or something that you love doing all the time. Now, go do it! What’s stopping you? Who cares if you have no one to go with and people might judge you because of it. Obviously don’t go alone if you don’t feel safe. You want to be comfortable and be able to enjoy yourself, but go do something that makes you smile.
Well, it looks like my nonstop rambling actually turned into a blog post.
Until Next Time,
Elizabeth Wolff
