Diversity and Inclusion Statement
As a school nurse, I am deeply committed to fostering a health care environment that respects and supports the well-being of every student. I believe that every child deserves equitable access to health services, regardless of their background, and I strive each day to ensure that the care I provide reflects compassion, respect, and inclusivity.
As a Mexican-American nurse and the daughter of migrant parents, I bring a deep appreciation for cultural identity and lived experience into my professional practice. I am also raising four children to honor and value our cultural roots, while embracing the richness of diversity in others.
In my role, I serve a vibrant and multicultural community, including families of Latino, Ukrainian, Asian, and East Indian descent. I am committed to creating a safe and welcoming space for all students and families, and I actively advocate for culturally responsive care.
I do not discriminate based on sex, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, or any other identity. My mission is to uphold the dignity and worth of every individual I encounter, ensuring that all students feel seen, supported, and valued.
Beyond my nursing role, I am an active member of my community. I serve as the Vice President and gear organizer for our local soccer club, where I help foster teamwork, inclusion, and youth development. I am also a passionate mentor, supporting high school students in completing their capstone projects and guiding nursing students through their precepting experiences. These roles allow me to further extend my commitment to education, empowerment, and equitable opportunity in all aspects of life.Â
