11 March 2020 – 16 March 2020
R/V Neil Armstrong (WHOI)
To/From Woods Hole, MA.
Sampled water by CTD and Mesobot for eDNA analysis. Mesobot samples large volumes of water in situ. Also collected gelatinous individuals for barcoding to include in reference databases. Sample processing is currently on hold due to the COVID-19 shut down.
19 April 2018 – 20 May 2018
R/V Falkor (Schmidt Ocean Institute)
From Honolulu, HI to San Diego, CA.
Sampled water by CTD and ROV for eDNA analysis. Performed eDNA extractions, amplification, and sequencing on board using an Oxford Nanopore MinIon sequencer. Identified the presence of white shark (Carcharodon carcharias) within 48 hours of water collection. See publication in Methods in Ecology and Evolution for results (shared first authorship) and Schmidt Ocean Institute blog for more information.
31 May 2016 – 7 June 2016
R/V Reuben Lasker (NOAA)
From Bodega Bay, CA to Avila, CA
Sampling water from CTD casts to compare eDNA results of biodiversity to net tows. See publication in Frontiers in Marine Science for results and more details (co-author).
Several one-day trips in 2015
R/V Rachel Carson (MBARI)
From Moss Landing to Station M1
Sampling water for eDNA analysis to compare filter and extraction methods.
