The foundation of folksonomies is humans. They are user-generated tags with the purpose of organization. Flickr was built with those user-generated tags at its core and it saw great popularity as a result. Google Photos shows what can happen when that human element is removed and the tagging is left to machine learning, artificial intelligence, and the issues that can arise. But it also shows the potential of what folksonomies can teach artificial intelligence to benefit the user as opposed to just benefiting the intelligence of the machine.
