School Day Academy
The Canadian Elite Academy
School Day Volleyball Academy
The school-day volleyball academy will have limited spaces for dedicated volleyball athletes interested in taking their skills to the next level. Athletes in grades 9-12 will be accepted. (In special situations, grade 8 athletes might be accepted.) The academy for the cycles will allow 20 female spots for the program.
The first cycle will run from September - December and the second cycle will run from February - April
The normal week for the academy will be:
Tuesday and Thursday Volleyball sessions from 1:00 - 3:00 pm at the Henk Ruys Soccer Center
Wednesday Mental and Jump sessions 1:00 - 2:00 pm at the Henk Ruys Soccer Center
Participants will need to clear their school schedules for the afternoon so they can attend the sessions. There is a couple of ways this can be achieved.
Online courses can be taken at any time, which will free the students up for academy sessions.
Schedule a spares in the block in which the academy session falls..
Many students in Saskatoon graduate with more classes than the 24 required, allowing them to free themselves up.
Special Project credits are available in both Public and Catholic Schools and can be done instead of a school course. (Grades 10-12)
(Special Project credits are credits earned for out-of-school initiatives not classified as dual credit course options. You must get approval from your school principal before starting the work for this special course. It requires a minimum of 100 hours of work and must be supervised by a teacher. Credit recognition for special projects will receive a final mark record of Standing Granted (SG) on the official Transcript of Secondary Level Achievement. For more information, talk to your teacher or school counselor. )
The academy will be an individual skills training camp approach that will never assemble a team from the participants. The participants will work on their skills and utilize them in their high school, university or club. The head coaches for the academy are Darren Cannell and Toako Chie Imamaura, and the goal is always to keep a 10-athlete-to-one-coach ratio. The academy has many world-class coaches who will be used to ensure the athletes are exposed to various coaching techniques.
All athletes who plan to attend the School Day Academy must be *ELITE 1 or 2* status athletes. To gain this status you must be evaluated.
