If I can summarize myself in a few words, I would say that I’m an overcoming compassionate and determined individual with a calling that guides my way into a chosen path both personally and professionally. My greatest accomplishment is being a mother/ grandmother and now a widow. My path of education began with acquiring my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, then earned my Master of Social Work Degree from Grambling State University. I am credentialed as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I have over 30 years working in the Social Work/ mental health field, serving the individuals, groups, families and community at large. My clinical practice consists of the use my spiritual beliefs, faith, professional skills, personal experience and passion, to effectively work within the church and community to assist people to go beyond their fears and shame, empower them towards their personal goals and inspire hope beyond what they are able to see.
Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with diverse populations across multiple settings, including corrections, developmental disabilities, crisis outreach, and substance abuse treatment. My professional experience also includes program development, community outreach, and serving as a grant writing consultant. In addition, I have facilitated Mental Health in the Church Conference entitled Changing the Mindset of Mental health in the church and Community. This conference serves as a catalyst towards future work with a mission to break the silence, dispel the myths and promote awareness of mental health and trauma in the church and community at large. I am currently serving on a mental health and faith-based Initiative committee dedicated to educating churches about mental health challenges and reducing stigma within faith communities.
As a therapist, I find deep fulfillment in helping individuals navigate life’s challenges and rediscover their inner strength. I am passionate about inspiring hope, fostering purpose, and supporting clients in developing a stronger sense of self. One of the most rewarding aspects of my work is witnessing clients gaining awareness of their resilience, faith, and capacity to grow—even in the midst of adversity. This type transformation empowers individuals to build the tools they need to overcome obstacles and create meaningful change in their lives. If you are ready to begin your journey toward healing and growth, I would be honored to support you along the way
