Chili Peppers Keep Elephants Away & Save Crops and Lives

Botswana is a lovely place. It is literally one of the only places on this planet where elephants can roam freely and are mainly protected by the law. This is a great fact, but it does have its challenges.

In search of food, it is not uncommon for elephants to wonder into towns and villages. There, they may attempt to eat farmers' crops and unknowingly damage people's livelihood. To protect their crops, farmers often attack the elephants, resulting in harm or death of these beautiful animals. But fact is that there are better ways to deal with visiting elephants than to just hurting them.

That's where Oats Elephants comes in! We are passionate about helping elephants and people! We want to help elephants and people peacefully coexist. How you ask? It is quite simple! Through better education and support!

Fact is that elephants absolutely hate and cannot tolerate the smell of Hot Chili Peppers. They literally will smell it and walk away. Their sense of smell is VERY strong and chili smell is not pleasant. So why not use this simple ingredient to spray the boundaries of the farms to deter the elephants? Well, fact is that many farmers either don't know about this solution or don't have the means to grow the peppers. We are committed to help solve this by providing education and support to the farmers.

Here are some pepper seedlings we planted, and we are already getting some sprouting. These peppers were used to save the elephants and the farmers' crops. They literally protect lives!
