Hi there!
I am Eleonora, an Italian-Spanish posdoctoral researcher (Programa de axudas á formación posdoutoral da Xunta de Galicia) currently based in Belgique, as a visitor at CENTAL, Université Catholique de Louvain. My research focuses on Applied, Corpus and Computational Linguistics. Over the past years, I have been part of CITIC (Centro de Investigación de Tecnología y de las Comunicaciones) and LyS Group (Lengua y Sociedad de la Información) at the University of Coruña (UDC). Here, I delved into two compelling research projects alongside crafting my doctoral dissertation. Specifically, my work focused on the automatic identification and analysis of academic multiword-expressions in Spanish, which has led to the development of online lexical tools tailored to serve as aids for writing and vocabulary evaluation. Moreover, I am actually engaged in the automatic evaluation of academic texts research, with a special focus on exploring linguistic complexity. Prior to my research at UDC, I also collaborated with the CLiC Group (Centre de Llenguate i Computació) at the University of Barcelona on a corpus project about Spanish negation. Alongside my research, I actively teach courses on language, linguistics, and technology at UDC (and in the past, at University of Vigo). Teaching allows me to bridge the gap between theory and practice, guiding students through the evolving landscape of linguistics, AI, and NLP applications.
Languages are not only central to my professional life but also deeply intertwined with my personal journey. While Italian is my mother tongue, I am equally fluent in Spanish and Catalan, and I speak English proficiently. My passion for languages extends beyond academia—I am an avid traveler, always seeking new cultures and life perspectives. For the past 15 years, I have balanced my academic career with professional volleyball, embracing both intellectual and athletic challenges with the same dedication.
