Since October 2025, I am Substitute Professor in Sociology with a focus on Social Stratification and Social Policy at Goethe University Frankfurt (DE), Institute of Sociology.
Before I worked as post-doctoral researcher in Markus Gangl's team on Social Stratification and Social Policy. Previously in 2017, I obtained a Ph.D. at the School of Social Sciences, University of Trento (IT), for my thesis on Ethnic Educational Inequalities in Comparative Perspective. I completed my master studies at the University of Trento too, with a dissertation on Social Inequalities in the Educational Careers of Italian students. Since 2018 I am serving as Deputy Editor for the European Sociological Review, flagship journal of the European Consortium of Sociological Research.
My research interests lay in the fields of Social Stratification with a focus on inequalities on the basis of individuals’ social origin and migration background. My research is devoted to the understanding of the mechanisms that allow the existence and the reproduction of social inequalities, and of the phenomenon of migration and its effects on both the individuals’ life cycles and the social structure in the countries of destination. Currently, I am developing my research interests in the field of digitalisation and societal transformation.
In this website you can find further information about my research agenda, the courses I teach, a list of my publications as well as of third party funded projects and activities I am currently involved in.
