When life gets busy, creativity doesn’t disappear — it just goes quiet.
Embers to Flame is a small-group, all-inclusive weekend retreat designed to help you soften the noise, steady your nervous system, and reignite the creative embers that never went out.
Rooted in the Chinese Five Element Theory and held in the Year of the Fire Horse, this retreat leans into the qualities of Fire — joy, expression, connection and creative courage — while gently restoring balance across all five elements.
This weekend is especially for you if:
You’ve been craving a proper creative reset (without having to “perform”)
You want to feel calmer, clearer and more energised
You love the idea of nature-led making, but you’re not sure where to start
You’ve ever been told you “can’t draw” or you’re “not arty”
Both Ruth and Paula were told those things when they were younger — and they’re wrong. Creativity isn’t a gift for a chosen few. It’s something you return to when you’re given the right space, support and permission.
Over the weekend you’ll be guided through a nourishing blend of creative and wellbeing practices, including:
Nature-inspired creative sessions using mark-making, painting and clay (process-first, no pressure)
Mindful woodland inspiration walks to awaken the senses and gently gather ideas
Meditation and Qi Gong to support calm, focus and flow
Spacious downtime for sea air, stillness, and deep rest
You won’t be rushed. You won’t be judged. And you don’t need any experience — just curiosity.
Old Rectory House is hidden near the Somerset coast — rustic woodland charm with boutique comfort. You’ll have access to a heated pool, sauna and cold-water plunge (please note: no spa treatments are available).
Accommodation is available as either a shepherd hut or a cottage room, with single occupancy and shared options.
Places are limited so we can create the best possible experience — with real guidance, real space, and a retreat atmosphere that feels warm, supportive and personal.
