Description of e-portfolio development process
Overview (What?): In the initial stage, we focus on the big picture of e-portfolios in education, look at some examples, and begin a planning process
Purpose (Why?): In this stage, we focus on creating a vision for implementing electronic portfolios. (Benefits and Purpose).
Collection (How? Level 1 Portfolio): In this stage, we look at creating and storing digital artifacts based on the integration of technology into the curriculum. (Collection/Digital Archive)
Reflection (How? Level 2 Portfolio): In this stage, we look at reflection (metacognition) on a day-to-day basis (including goal-setting), organized chronologically (often using a blogging platform). (Reflection/Direction/Feedback)
Presentation (How? Level 3 Portfolio): In this stage, we focus on different types of showcase portfolios, organized thematically, including more retrospective reflection. (Showcase/Presentation)
Assessment (How well?): In this stage, we focus on evaluating portfolios and developing rubrics. (Evaluation)
There are two levels of Assessment: Formative (usually Level 2 "Learning" portfolio) and Summative (usually Level 3 "Showcase" portfolio).
