You Can Buy 100% Renewable Electricity
No matter where you live in San Diego County you have the option to buy 100% renewable electricity from a Community Choice Aggregator (CCA).
Switching to 100% renewable electricity is one of the most impactful things you can do to reduce your carbon footprint and its associated air pollution.
If you live in Encinitas, San Diego, Chula Vista, Imperial Beach, La Mesa, National City, or in the unincorporated parts of San Diego County your CCA is San Diego Community Power. Encinitas residents are already signed up for 100% renewable power (unless you changed it). The default for residents of other cities is currently 54% renewable.
If you live in Carlsbad, Del Mar, Escondido, Oceanside, San Marcos, Solana Beach, or Vista your CCA is the Clean Energy Alliance. The default option is 50% renewable, 75% carbon free power.
You have the choice of buying your electricity from either SDG&E or a CCA. SDG&E will continue to deliver your power and send you your bill, but where your power comes from is up to you.
For a typical $137 monthly electricity bill, switching from the 54% renewable option (PowerOn) to the 100% renewable option (Power100) will add about $3 per month. See San Diego Community Power - Compare Options
To switch to the Power100 option, go to San Diego Community Power - Power100 and follow the directions.
For a typical $143 monthly electricity bill, switching from the 50% renewable, 75% carbon free option (Clean Impact Plus) to the 100% renewable option (Green Impact) will add about $2 per month. See Clean Energy Alliance - Your Options
To switch to the Green Impact option, go to Clean Energy Allinace - Green Impact and click the “Opt Up” button.
