Revenge of the Electric Car? (2011)

PG | 88 minutes

This 2011 follow up to Who Killed the Electric Car? follows four trailblazers; Elon Musk (Telsa Motors CEO), Carlos Gosen (CEO and President of Renault of France and Nissan of Japan), Bob Luzen (Vice Chairman of GM), and Greg Abbott (Californian EV mechanic) who are fighting to bring back EVs.

SCIENCE FICTION

EVs are no longer a thing of our imagination. Here are the sci-fi movies that got the world's electric future right!

Blade Runner 2049 (2017)

R | 2 hr 43 min

The film is set in a dystopian future Los Angeles of 2019, in which synthetic humans known as replicants are bio-engineered by the powerful Tyrell Corporation to work on space colonies. When a fugitive group of advanced replicants led by Roy Batty (Hauer) escapes back to Earth, burnt-out cop Rick Deckard (Ford) reluctantly agrees to hunt them down.

FUN FACT: According to CNBC, Tesla drew inspiration for their electric Cybertruck from the flying cars featured in this film.

Aliens (1986)

R | 2 hr 34 min

After floating in space for 57 years, Lt. Ripley's shuttle is found by a deep space salvage team. Upon arriving at LV-426, the marines find only one survivor, a nine-year-old girl named Newt. But even these battle-hardened marines with all the latest weaponry are no match for the hundreds of aliens that have invaded the colony.

FUN FACT: The M577 Armored Personnel Carrier seen in this movie is powered by a pair of batteries stuffed inside its hulking mass, with a backup turbine that doesn’t connect to the drivetrain, but rather generates electricity to recharge the batteries in an emergency.
