When Vice President Leni Robredo announced her candidacy for president, I immediately pondered on the challenges. The previous general elections was a disaster. 14 million Filipinos were deceived by the con man, Rodrigo Duterte. His cult following remained strong. I was hoping that the CoViD-19 experience finally unmasked him as a fraud.
I wanted to express that thought in video form. Every element was made at home, using available resources, and DIY. And, this is the result. A sea of black umbrellas representing the Duterte horde. Slowly, but surely, the colors turn to the Robredo campaign color, pink. The pace of conversion increases as the video progresses. This signifies the pace in which people are realising their grave folly in 2016.
The Tagalog narration sums up the message. It borrows a line, "Hindi ka nag-iisa" from the anti-Marcos protests of the 80s. I toiled to come-up with the poetry in Tagalog. But somehow, I came-up with something coherent enough.
As usual, my DAW of choice when making music is Ignite. Nothing really complicated. Just a typical strings chord progression.
