I was taught at an early age that an idle mind is the workshop of the devil. That is a why I always keep my head busy with all kinds of creative things. I have always been fascinated with the arts. Specially music. It has played a great deal in my life. Some may critique my works as products of the meanderings of a sick head. But, I'll leave it to you to decide.
I have always wanted to write books about basically anything. Thanks to the advances in Artificial Intelligence, I was able to put my ideas into long-form texts. Unlike other writers, I am transparent, I acknowledge that without the help of AI, I would not have been able to complete these projects. Each eBook contains a disclosure of the collaborative nature of the work.
Music has played a major role in shaping who I am. I received my first instruction in music class in Don Bosco Makati. We were taught basic lessons in notes, beats, rests, etc. I found music class to be boring. But, somehow I was able to retain a lot from those.
My relatives from Cebu contributed to how I appreciated music. My cousin Joseph once came over with his mates to play folk music at several venues around Metro Manila. I would sit-in and quietly watch them practice. He taught me the first keyboard riff I learned. It was from Simon and Garfunkel's The Boxer.
Then, I discovered The Beatles on December 8, 1980. The assassination of John Lennon was all over the news. Old footage on TV intrigued me, So, I began researching about the band. I bought magazines and cassette tapes of their albums. I was hooked! At the back my head, I imagined myself in a rock band.
I learned to play the piano and guitar by myself, I'm no virtuoso, but I continue to learn. I formed my first band with neighborhood friends. I aslo organised a church choir. Over the years, I've been with three other bands.
I also write songs when I get extremely emotional. Most of the time, when my heart is broken. I haven't really done anything in anger. Not yet. If you care to listen, just click here to listen to some of them.
