A photography portfolio by Elisha Montealegre (Elaisha)
Here are my top 3 photos from my recent snapshots I took last year. All 3 have been taken from different places at different times feeling different emotions as I capture them.
This photo was taken in the small pond of SM North in Quezon City where I was going back from a TV guesting. Although the first reason I picked this is because the photo is pretty to look at, the photo captured so much more than just being eye-pleasing. One of my favorite shots I captured in the city of Quezon is this koi fish as it shows how magical it can be to visit there even from a glimpse of this pond, capturing the reflection of the luminous and colorful design above the water serving as a rooftop for the koi fish. As the koi fish swam away out of fright, a trail of its movement was made showing a riffle effect in the water bending the reflection as well. Although the shot looked like it swam away, the fish was very friendly while I ate under the shiny designed rooftop. During those times with the fish in the small pond, underneath that reflecting light, I like to think that no matter how dark the place you are right now, you must know that there will always be a light under your head no matter how lonely it gets.
A few friends from my city went to an arcade zone to bond after a long stressful week of academics. This shot was taken inside a karaoke booth where they sang the song "Line without a hook", one of the gangs' favorites. I love this photo because it captures the dynamic of the fun duo and shows how passionate they are in singing the song. I also liked how it focuses on one friend while still being able to give space and attention to the other hence being blurred. If I were to redo this photo, I would love to step back a little more to give more space for my two friends and capture their movements more.
This photo shows a story of how we find comfort in one another. This shot was taken from a friend's subdivision playground where we took photos of random objects. This photo is probably my top 1 favorite as I gave it the most comforting meaning behind the shot. In the photo, we can see two old broken lamp posts with little dust inside of it. I believe this shot symbolizes how we grow old and broken with people who gave us comfort and belongingness, just like how the two lamp posts are still attached to the same spot, still hanging even when the other is crooked. We can also see that the crooked lamp post is more dusty than the other, which means it's not taken care of anymore. I want to go back to that subdivision once more to re-capture this shot, but this time, in the night where it is lit.
