Together, the EJW collation strives to nurture vibrant hubs to think and write together, co-created with:
(1) activist-scholars, faculty and graduate students, that resist being incorporated into a business-as-usual ethos and the language of economies of scale so pervasive in higher education by working together to address inequities of all kinds and to challenge the values and institutionality of power that perpetuate existing hierarchies between HBCUs and R1s;
(2) ferociously independent artists who understand that being pragmatic actually means demanding what the mainstream considers to be unrealistically utopian; andÂ
(3) community organizers who possess a passion for self-education because autodidacticism nurtures thinking and analysis that are unthinkable. We rethink the notions of authority and leadership in higher education fundamentally through these forms of collaborations and partnerships.
