Environmental Justice Worldmaking (EJW) is a JW is a collaborative project of the Minnesota EJ Table, University of Minnesota, and Spelman College. Our work is hyper-local in one sense. We are following in the footsteps of the Minnesota EJ Table to shut down the trash burner in downtown Minneapolis, which sits next to Target Field. It is called the Hennepin Energy Recovery Center (HERC). It is the leading polluter in the area. Its records of harms and damages done to the people in North Minneapolis and the environment, since 1989, are damning. This fact sheet captures the essence of environmental injustices. We are working to shut it down now— not later between 2028 and 2040.
