My Platform
Ward 2 deserves better. My platform is build around six priorities identified through conversations with residents across our community.
My focus is on building safer, more affordable, more accountable, and a more prosperous Ward 2 for everyone.
Safety & Community Well-Being
Housing & Affordability
Seniors & Accessibility
Local Business & Economic Opportunity
Infrastructure, Cleanliness & Downtown Revitalization
Accountability & Governance
Safety & Community Well-Being
Safety is the issue I hear about most from residents, seniors, parents, business owners, and visitors. There is growing frustration across our community. People no longer feel safe walking downtown, using transit, or enjoying public spaces. Parents have become increasingly concerned about their children visiting parks, travelling independently, or simply enjoying the freedoms that previous generations often took for granted.
These concerns are legitimate and deserve action.
I support expanding visible police foot patrols further west toward Queen Street and throughout identified hotspots where residents and businesses consistently raise concerns. I also support stronger coordination between Hamilton Police Services, mental health professionals, outreach workers, housing providers, and community organizations through a highly coordinated and accountable model that maximizes existing resources and delivers measurable outcomes.
Visible policing is only part of the solution. Many incidents involve people experiencing mental health crises, addiction, homelessness, and other challenges that require more than enforcement alone.
People in crisis need pathways to housing, treatment, recovery, and long-term stability. Employment opportunities, housing stability, mental health supports, and addiction treatment all play an important role in preventing people from falling into crisis. Strong communities are built when residents have access to opportunity, support, and the resources they need to succeed.
I will advocate for stronger integration between outreach teams, crisis response services, healthcare providers, and community organizations so that the right response reaches the right situation at the right time.
Investing in Youth
Ward 2 has underinvested in youth for too long.
Through conversations with young people, including those connected to Rise Hamilton and other community initiatives, I have heard the same message repeatedly. Young people do not want programs designed for them without their input. They want mentorship, meaningful employment opportunities, recreation, leadership opportunities, and adults who believe in their potential.
Investing in youth today is one of the most effective public safety strategies available to us. When young people have opportunities, mentorship, and a genuine stake in their community, everyone benefits. I will push for youth programs developed around their actual needs, not programs designed by people who have never asked them what they want.
Seniors & Accessibility
A strong community is one where seniors can live safely, independently, and with dignity.
For many seniors, public safety is not only about crime. It is about transportation, accessibility, well-maintained sidewalks, safe crossings, access to healthcare and community services, and the ability to age in place within the neighbourhoods they helped build.
Many seniors live on fixed incomes and are particularly affected by rising costs, transportation challenges, accessibility barriers, and the availability of local services. Public transportation, accessible sidewalks, safe crossings, and reliable municipal services are essential for seniors and residents who rely on them every day.
I will advocate for improved accessibility, stronger connections to community services, safer pedestrian infrastructure, and policies that help seniors remain active and engaged members of our community. Seniors should not only be able to age in place. They should be able to remain active, connected, and engaged in the communities they helped build.
Housing & Affordability
Ward 2 is overwhelmingly made up of renters. Most residents never see a property tax bill directly, but they pay it every month through their rent. They deserve to see that money working for them, and nowhere is that more urgent than housing.
My focus is on four practical priorities:
-Zoning Reform
Hamilton took a step in the right direction when Council approved new mid-rise residential zones in October 2025. I will push to ensure those reforms move forward and that Ward 2 residents benefit fully from the housing options that were promised to them.
-Eliminating Bureaucratic Bottlenecks
Hamilton’s housing approvals take an average of 31 months. I will push for clear service standards, better staffing, and modernization of approval processes so housing can be built faster.
-Maximizing Every Available Dollar
Hamilton has secured significant federal housing funding. I will work to ensure those dollars are converted into actual housing projects and measurable results.
-Protecting What We Already Have
I will support stronger rental protections, affordable housing replacement policies, and community benefits agreements that include affordable housing commitments.
Infrastructure, Cleanliness & Downtown Revitalization
Residents should not have to wait years for a sidewalk repair.
Hamilton’s infrastructure deficit remains significant, and Barton Street continues to be cited as one of Ontario’s worst roads. Residents deserve better.
I will advocate for improved roads, sidewalks, lighting, accessibility upgrades, and infrastructure investments that improve daily life.
Residents also deserve transparency. I will establish publicly accessible tracking of ward infrastructure commitments so residents can monitor progress and timelines.
A cleaner, safer, and better-maintained ward benefits everyone. Strong infrastructure supports residents, businesses, investment, and neighbourhood pride.
Local Business & Economic Opportunity
A strong local economy benefits everyone.
Local businesses create jobs, support community events, and contribute to the character and vitality of our neighbourhoods. More than 98% of Hamilton businesses are small or micro enterprises.
Downtown Hamilton faces significant challenges, including office vacancies, safety concerns, cleanliness issues, and barriers to attracting investment.
Public safety, economic growth, housing stability, and community well-being are interconnected and must be addressed together. Strong local businesses also create employment opportunities that help residents build stable lives and support their families.
I will advocate for policies that reduce unnecessary barriers for small businesses, support local entrepreneurs, encourage investment, improve cleanliness and maintenance, and ensure local businesses have a meaningful voice at City Hall.
Accountability & Governance
Consultation must happen before decisions are made, not after.
I will establish volunteer-led Ward 2 Community Advisory Committees representing neighbourhoods, businesses, and community stakeholders so residents have a real voice before votes are cast.
I will also hold neighbourhood-level budget meetings before each budget cycle so residents understand trade-offs and have meaningful input.
The standard I will apply to every difficult decision is simple:
Does it improve quality of life?
Does it represent value for taxpayers?
Can I defend it plainly to the people who sent me there?
If the answer is no, I am not prepared to support it.
Taking Action Now
Action should begin before election day, and it already has.
My team has launched a Ward 2 Safety and Infrastructure Reporting Form that allows residents to report concerns involving safety, lighting, roads, sidewalks, graffiti, and other neighbourhood issues.
I want to hear from you. Whether you are a resident, business owner, senior, parent, newcomer, or young person building a future in Ward 2, your voice matters.
Together, we can build a safer, stronger, more affordable, and more accountable Ward 2.
Ward 2 Deserves Better and together we will make it happen.
