Yann Dumay
PhD Student
For you, curious passerby, I will try to sum up my role in the Eiser Group!
My PhD project at NTNU started in January 2025 and is funded by FLUXIONIC, a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Doctoral Network (https://www.fluxionic.org/).
This project is mostly experimental and focuses on two-phase flow in porous media —Can you picture a vinaigrette flowing through a sponge? That's basically it! — I build custom transparent macro and micro cells using 3D-printing, these present controlled porous structures — Still have some vinaigrette in mind? Well, now imagine this flowing through a translucid, hard, nice looking sponge! — Using imaging technic like PIV and Python based analysis tools, I look at the behaviour of these flows under various conditions — Still reading? Then, you should have a look at our Two Phase Flow page, there we show nice pictures and videos of our experiments.
As member of the FLUXIONIC network, I take part in regular training schools, workshops, and lab exchanges across Europe. It is a chance to work with inspiring scientists and to grow lasting professional and genuine friendships within the 15-students cohort.
