We are a part of the Center of Excellence PoreLab Research Center, Funded by the Norwegian Science Foundation. Our Research Theme focuses on Nanoporous Media and Gels. This comprises experimental and numerical work on soft and complex fluids in porous media with pore sizes ranging from nano- to macroscopic scales, which can be surprisingly fun!
The research newspaper Titan recently published an article about our research on confined colloidal drying patterns. Read it here: https://www.titan.uio.no/naturvitenskap/2025/labyrinter-i-kaffeflekker.html
Dr. Pooja Singh recently started her 3-year postdoctoral position in our group. She holds a PhD from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, and will work on setting up µPIV (micro Particle Image Velocimetry) to study two-phase flows in porous media. Welcome!
Pictures of our drying patterns were printed and are now exhibited in one of the seminar rooms at the University of Oxford.
A paper from our group titled "Confined colloidal droplets dry to form circular mazes" was recently published in PNAS. Read it here (Open Access): https://www.pnas.org/doi/full/10.1073/pnas.2508363122
