The Liberty Democratic Alliance (LDA) Web Portal is an interconnected collection of web applications, databases, and interactive tools developed to support a community of fictional nations participating in NationStates, an online political simulation game in which players create countries, govern their populations, and join regional communities.
Rather than functioning as a conventional informational website, the LDA Web Portal seeks to recreate many of the digital services and administrative systems that might exist within a real international organization.
At the center of the project is myLDA, an interactive application that provides access to national profiles, economic information, simulated banking and securities trading, and other services designed around the region's fictional economies. Supporting applications include a geographic atlas and the Regional Observatory, which manages information such as regional timekeeping, weather observations, and astronomical calculations.
The portal also incorporates a regional economic directory, newsfeed, communications archives, event calendars, legislative proposals, photographic galleries, and resources for diplomatic engagement and membership.
Much of the underlying infrastructure uses interconnected Google Sheets, Google Apps Script, and custom web interfaces to process information, perform calculations, and present results to users.
Although its countries, financial systems, and institutions are fictional, the software development involved is very real. The project explores practical challenges in database design, financial modeling, user authentication, automation, data integration, and interactive web application development.
The LDA Web Portal is an ongoing EHSB software development project, demonstrating how a relatively simple community website can evolve into a sophisticated digital ecosystem.
Visitors are welcome to explore the portal, examine its applications, and discover how technology can bring an imaginary international community to life.
