You MUST attempt the TSI in order to enroll in college-level coursework. If you take the TSI and pass a section of the test, you will be able to take college-level coursework in that subject area (English, Math).
If you attempt the TSI but do NOT pass, you will be required to take developmental coursework in that area. The passage of a developmental class will allow you to take the college-level class in that subject, BUT it will not count toward your degree, or count toward your transfer GPA, should you decide to transfer to a university.

Helpful hints:
You should try to be TSI-complete before your college orientation. This way, you can register for college-level classes.
If you have already taken and passed all or some portions of the TSI for dual-credit, make sure you send your TSI scores to your university from DCCCD.
If you still need to take your TSI:
See if you can take the test through your college/university.
Take the test through Dallas College.
What happens if I take my test but don't pass?
You are only required to attempt the test, and provide proof that you attempted it.
If you are not TSI complete for one or more sections before you register for classes, you will be placed in developmental coursework in those subject areas.
You are allowed to take the test more than once.
