Frequently Asked Questions
What are Private Lesson Grants?
· Created for EHS band students with financial need, private lesson grants will fund five thirty-minute lessons per trimester (15 per school year) at a cost of up to $35 per lesson. Grant funds will be distributed directly to the private lesson instructor. Any additional lesson or instrument costs will be covered by the student.
Why are the Band Boosters offering these grants?
· Private lesson instruction is typically associated with enhanced outcomes for the musician and their band program; however, it is not financially feasible for all students to take advantage of these opportunities. In an effort to reduce disparity within the band program at Eagan High School, the Band Boosters decided to allocate a portion of their annual budget for this program.
How do I prove I have financial need?
· Applicants will self-assess their need and confirm they cannot otherwise afford private lessons on the application. Guidelines for the assessment will be provided in the application.
How many grants are available?
· Up to three grants will be awarded in the first year of the grant program.
How will you choose who gets a grant?
· Grant applications will be reviewed anonymously by an independent panel of musically minded community members.
Will the names of grant recipients be confidential?
· Yes. As a need-based program, recipient names will only be disclosed to the Directors and key members of the Band Boosters including the elected board members.
How do I apply?
· The online application is available here
Will I be able to renew my grant next year?
· Grants can be renewed in subsequent years as long as the student remains enrolled in band at Eagan High School and is meeting all expectations of the band directors and their private lesson instructor.
How do I find a private lesson instructor?
· Band directors will assist the grant recipient with finding a lesson instructor appropriate for their primary instrument and current skill level.
