Our team is broadly interested in understanding the neurobiology underlying G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR)-mediated neuromodulation and its relevance to addiction and psychiatric disorders. We focus on how the spatial organization of GPCR signaling and the dynamic regulation of receptor trafficking shape neuronal function. By better understanding where and how receptors function within cells, we aim to identify new strategies for pharmacologically targeting these receptors while reducing unwanted off-target effects.
We study neuromodulation in human iPSC-derived neurons, primary rodent neurons, and immortalized cell lines using advanced imaging approaches and fluorescent biosensors.
