Middle School
Constructed Response Assessment (CRA) – All middle school students will take the CRA test three times during this academic year. The test will focus only on math content and measures the content knowledge required by the current state curriculum standards and the new Common Core Standards. TNReady is a timed, multiple-choice assessment given to all middle school students. TNReady test measures skills in reading and language arts, math, science, and social studies. TNReady will be given to our 6th, 7th, and 8th graders at East Hamilton. High School
EOCs - End of Course tests. Standardized tests given to all students taking the following classes: English I, English II, English III, Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, U.S. History, Biology I, Chemistry and Physics. The EOC counts as a student's final exam and is 25% of their final course grade. Go to state.tn.us/education/assessment/secondary.shtml for more information.
TCAP Writing Assessment - A state writing test taken by all 11th graders. It will be given as a computer based test for the first time this school year. Go to state.tn.us/education/assessment/writing.shtml for more information.
ACT - A timed, multiple-choice test that covers English, Math, Reading, and Science. (There is also an optional writing section on national test dates). This test is given to all 11th graders in March. Scores are reported to students' college choices to serve as a criteria for college admissions. Go to actstudent.org for more information.
PSAT - A timed, multiple-choice test that covers Reading, Writing, and Math. Students in the 10th and 11th grade can register to take this test. It is normally given at school in October. Students who take the PSAT in their junior year can potentially qualify for National Merit Scholarships. It also serves as a "practice" test for the SAT. SAT - A timed, multiple-choice test that covers Reading, Writing, and Math. Students can register to take this test and have scores reported to colleges to serve as a part of admission criteria. (This test is not given at East Hamilton) Go to sat.collegeboard.org/home for more information.
