Season 7 (2021 - 2022)

Team 5980 is excited to be back together and competing for real this year!  The

St. Joseph FIRST in Michigan (FiM) District Competition - March 10-12, 2022

• The team started off hot, going 4-0, then encountered still competition.  The team finished the competition strong and was selected by Alliance #6, joining captain 288 and team 910.

• Team 5980 was honored to be awarded the Entrepreneurship Award.

West Michigan FIRST in Michigan (FiM) District Competition - March 24-26, 2022

• Team 5980 ended the event with a record of 6-6 and ranked 14th out of 36 teams.  Following our plan from the end of the previous competition, team 5980 was able to revamp our strategy as well as our Chairman's award.  This change of strategy resulted in team 5980 gaining more rank points than the previous competition.  By the end of the competition, the robot was severely battered and beaten and needed a number of repairs.

• Team 5980 was fortunate enough to be selected by the number 5 alliance (4453, 5980, and 7768) and win the District Chairman’s award, our third District Chairman's Award in three years.

FIRST in Michigan (FiM) District Championships (aka Michigan State Championships) - April 13-16, 2022

• Team 5980 competed in the DTE Energy Foundation Division, finishing a respectable 28th.
