Students in grades 3-5 who read and pass AR tests on books from the list below will be invited to attend the Louisiana Young Readers' Choice (LYRC) Award voting party. The Secretary of State's office will provide real voting machines for students to cast a ballot for their favorite book on Wednesday, January 20, 2027! These books can be found in the EGM Library and at all Shreve Memorial Library locations, and online as e-books on Hoopla Digital and Overdrive/Libby (free using your SML library card!).

BATTLE OF THE BOOKS
A team of 5th graders will be selected based on the students who read the most books from this year's LYRC list. This team will represent EGM at ArtBreak's Battle of the Books competition in April 2027. Students will face off in several challenges (Constructed Response, Quiz, Battle Bafflers, Puzzler) to bring home the coveted "Chalice of Champions."
Congratulations to our 2026 BOTB team for winning 2nd place! 🏆
