Teaching Philosophy
My teaching philosophy is founded on acknowledging that learning environments can be uncomfortable - in particular for people from communities that have been historically marginalized and left out of academia. My role as an educator and mentor is to create a space for my students that makes them feel comfortable to be inquisitive, creative and not afraid to make mistakes. I also believe that fostering students' interest is crucial for their learning success. I strive to do so by providing students the freedom to choose research questions given the constraints of available data and course scope.
