Some sports such as wrestling have weight classes to keep it fair when competing. Most of the time those athletes will “cut weight” which is the act of lowering your weight so you can compete in the weight class lower than your walk around weight is. Other athletes that are in other sports will ask why wrestlers have to cut weight, and the short answer is they don’t have to. However the reason they do it is because they are much bigger when they are in a lower weight class. There are positives and negatives to cutting and most people don’t fully know the pain that wrestlers are enduring both mentally and physically.
