Everything Everywhere All at Once introduces sci-fi tech which allows the characters of the story to move between parallel universes in a process called universe jumping. When a character jumps, they assimilate all of the knowledge and memories their alternate self has and in doing so create a communicating network of their selves from across universes. Characters use this network to effectively look up and download skills as they need them, sort of like the way a PC interacts with the internet. And similarly to how one PC couldn't download the entire internet, most characters have an upper limit to the number of universes they can jump to before they can no longer hold the information. The exceptions to this are Evelyn and her daughter Joy/Jobu Tupaki who gain all the knowledge from every universe, putting them in the league of a theoretical supercompter which has downloaded the entire internet.
Early in the movie Alpha Waymond (the version of Evelyn's husband from the universe that Jobu Tupaki comes from) introduces us to an earpiece which allows him to communicate with other people in different universes. This is an excellent example of the development of new communication technologies making life easier for those that use it. In the same way that the telephone or the telegraph's quick communication made it possible for people in different cities or countries to communicate and collaborate, the earpiece in EEAAO makes the entire Alpha Universe subplot of Alpha Gong Gong's forces hunting down Jobu and Evelyn possible. If Alpha Gong Gong's people couldn't communicate between universes, it would have been extremely unlikely that they would be coordinated enough to all show up to the final showdown all at once.
We also see a couple of real communication technologies. In particular, we see that Evelyn's laundromat has security cameras. The ability of people to monitor many places all at the same time with security camera networks is very important to our modern way of life. As we see in the movie, Evelyn can use her security cameras to see her customers and be ready to tend to them without fully dedicating herself to staying in the main room. This gives her time to sort out her other problems while maintaining her standard of service.
