We have a long history of mission in the community and we continue to strive to be a beacon of God’s love in the area. We are a varied congregation with a mix of ages, with activities and groups for children as well as adults.
Edward Road Baptist Church (ERBC) was formed in 1872 by a small group of Baptists, meeting above a shop on Balsall Heath Road. In 1900 the church was big enough to build a new building, as well as a hall on the corner of Edward Road and Harbury Road. At the time it was surrounded by fields, but slowly houses were built and the church grew. The first and second world war ravaged Balsall Heath and many moved away, but new people arrived, forming the diverse congregation we see today.
A church focused on knowing Jesus and his love, joy and peace in the power of the Holy Spirit. Worshipping God: Father, Jesus and Holy Spirit.
A church that welcomes and loves unconditionally. Having a Christ centred, Grace filled, non-judgemental approach to applying the Bible.
A church that is united in Christ and prioritises time with each other. Readily forgiving, proactively addressing any issues and celebrating different cultures.
A church that prays and worships together and is open to the Holy Spirit moving us in new directions. Individually we take responsibility to allow the Holy Spirit to transform us into Jesus’ likeness and support each other to make changes.
A church that actively pursues the priesthood of all believers. We encourage and pray for each other to grow into the ministry that Jesus has given us. Pursuing fellowship, support and discipleship appropriate to different age groups.
A church that joins with other Christians to minister to our neighbourhood, building relationships and loving the community. Proclaiming Jesus in both our words and deeds.
