On this section, I explore social media effects on my mind
Personally, I felt like this site isn't accurate with the way I use social media, but the site results are that "I'm not 100% addicted (yet)." I will say that it does feel like there are times when I feel addicted to scrolling through Instagram reels but also self-aware that I am dedicating time to something that can be wasteful with my time.
I chose this statistic because I turned 18 in September 2025, and I'm surprised by how YouTube is the most used. As for my generation, a social media app like Instagram or TikTok is commonly utilized amongst us and not YouTube. What makes it interesting is the way each generation uses social media differently from one another.
Social media's impact on society is very split in a natural way. Just like how people in real life are split amongst themselves. How people behave in real life will be reflected on social media, from what they say and what they believe. What we end up consuming on social media is ourselves, and we output that into society. We output being split among ourselves.
I learned that social media does take up a lot of my time and realized that I should be dedicating it more to being creative or reading something. The only thing other than social media causing a divide amongst people, I feel like, is mainly that it wastes everyone's time.
