Nation Transformation through Purpose and Collaboration in Education
At Edutropism, our mission is to reimagine education in Malaysia through the principles of purpose and collaboration. Our vision is guided by the National Education Philosophy of 1988, which emphasizes the holistic development of individuals—intellectually, spiritually, emotionally, and physically.
Our mandate is national transformation, where each school contributes its unique role to weave a rich and interconnected tapestry of education.
National Education Philosophy (1988) -translated in English
Education in Malaysia is an ongoing effort towards further developing the potential of individuals in a holistic and integrated manner, so as to produce individuals who are intellectually, spiritually, emotionally and physically balanced and harmonious, based on a firm belief in and devotion to God. Such an effort is designed to produce Malaysian citizens who are knowledgeable and competent, who possess high moral standards, and who are responsible and capable of achieving high level of personal well-being as well as being able to contribute to the harmony and betterment of the family, the society and the nation at large.
The term "tropism" comes from the Greek word "trepein," meaning "to turn." It captures the essence of how organisms respond and adapt to external stimuli by altering their direction. This concept reflects our belief in education's transformative power, encouraging schools and individuals to pivot and adapt in response to new challenges and opportunities.
Imagine each school as a unique aquarium—a distinct micro-environment where its community thrives. Just as each aquarium supports a specific ecosystem, schools cultivate their own educational environments. The clarity of a school's purpose and the leadership that drives it are crucial for defining its role and impact within the broader educational landscape.
In the world of education, a school can sometimes feel like the entirety of one's world. Yet, just as an aquarium is part of a larger room and its conditions, schools are embedded within a larger educational system. This interconnectedness highlights the need for collaboration. Schools must work together, sharing insights and resources, to address challenges and harness opportunities that extend beyond their own confines.
At Edutropism, we strive to create a collaborative platform where educators and stakeholders unite to learn, grow, and inspire one another. Our goal is to foster a vibrant community that embraces purpose and collaboration, encouraging all members to refine their unique roles and explore new avenues for cooperation. Through this collective effort, we aim to drive transformative change in education, empowering individuals and institutions to contribute meaningfully to a brighter future.
By integrating purpose with collaboration, Edutropism is dedicated to guiding education towards a future where every learner and educator can thrive, connected through a shared vision of growth and mutual support.

For decades, we’ve heard the same conversations about Malaysian education—what it should be, how it needs to improve, and how things aren’t what they used to be. No matter the topic—corruption, mental wellness, civic responsibility, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, creativity, health, or morality—education always emerges as the long-term solution.
Yet, who carries this responsibility?
Are teachers expected to be superheroes, mastering all these skills to shape the next generation? And at the same time, are administrators convinced that teachers have too much time on their hands, adding more paperwork, reporting, and planning to their workload?
The system is designed for us to fail—for teachers to face the insurmountable. We want to reach out for help, but who do we call? Where do we go? Many of us don’t even know what we don’t know. There’s no time to reflect, no space to ask ourselves what the real solutions could be. Because that’s not where a teacher’s heart often is—we’re here for the students, not for ourselves. We are tactical executors, not strategic planners.
Edutropism was born from a group of educators who decided, enough talk—let’s do something about it. Amidst packed schedules, sleepless nights, and endless responsibilities, we carved out time to build something meaningful—a space for teachers to learn from one another, share struggles, and find solutions together.
Who better understands our challenges than other educators facing the same struggles? And while we share and support one another, we also bring in thought leaders who can provide insights into the way forward—practical, actionable steps to transform education. Beyond that, we seek to bridge the gap between schools, industries, and communities, lowering the barriers for collaboration and meaningful partnerships that actually drive change.
In the coming days, Edutropism 25 will take place—not as another event filled with empty discussions, but as a gathering of passionate educators who believe that change is possible. This is a movement built by those who refuse to accept the status quo—teachers who are investing in something bigger than themselves, beyond this generation and the next.
We ask you, as teachers, as people passionate about education in this country—trade a weekend during this Ramadhan to invest in the future. Because reimagining education isn’t something we can do alone. It isn’t something we can do in silos. It happens within a community—together.
Will you be part of this change?
